BOTOX COSMETIC treatments are an exciting advance in the fight against wrinkles. BOTOX has been used by ophthalmologists for ten years to treat certain nerve disorders of the eye. Recently BOTOX expanded into cosmetic treatments because of its ability to safely diminish facial expression lines. At Edina Eye Physicians and Surgeons, P.A., Dr. Gullingsrud has been using BOTOX injections to treat his patients therapeutically for the past nine years.

If you are interested in finding out if BOTOX COSMETIC is right for you, call for a no-charge consultation at (952)832-8130.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is BOTOX?
BOTOX is a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent that works at motor nerve endings (nerves that lead to muscles). BOTOX has been used successfully by ophthalmologists for ten years treating patients for Blepharospasms and Strabismus. Recently, the use of BOTOX has expanded to cosmetic treatments. The muscle relaxing agent in Botox has been found to decrease the appearance of wrinkles, or creases located in the forehead, the eyebrows, and the corner of the eyes called the "crows feet".

What is a BOTOX Procedure?
It's a short procedure, taking only a few minutes. The surgeon will use a small needle to inject tiny amounts of Botox into a specific muscle in the desired treatment area. The procedure is generally "painless." There may be some redness around the treated area which might last up to three days. Patients see the results of the injections within a week.

How long will the effects last?
The effects of the injection will last up to 4 months. BOTOX can be safely injected again. Studies show that with continued treatments, the effect of BOTOX may even last longer.

Is BOTOX safe?
BOTOX is a natural purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum bacterium. Very low doses of Botox are administered by a skilled physician into a localized region. It does not travel throughout the body. At Edina Eye Physicians & Surgeons, P.A., Dr.Gullingsrud, an experienced ophthalmologist and surgeon, has been administering Botox injections for the past seven years.

Is BOTOX right for me?
Dr. Gullingsrud requests that people interested in BOTOX COSMETIC Treatments schedule a no-charge consultation to discuss individual expectations and potential results.
