Experience
Dr. Stephens was born in Edina, MN and grew up in Minnesota and North Dakota. Graduated Fargo South High and later attended Baylor University on a baseball scholarship, playing on many nationally ranked teams in the Southwest Conference. Went on to receive his medical degree from the Univeristy of North Dakota School of Medicine on academic scholarship.
He then completed his residency in eye training at the University of Minnesota where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Stephens specializes in cataract and refractive surgery, glaucoma management, diabetic eyecare, medical macular degeneration, and all other comprehensive eye issues. He has taught many doctors in training the newest techniques in surgery and continues to serve the University of Minnesota as a mentor to many medical students interested in ophthalmology. He has researched many topics in ophthalmology and presented locally and nationally. Dr. Stephens has established and actively participated in many free eye care clinics and homeless shelters and ares of need throughout Minnesota.
Dr. Stephens offers his patients the most advanced vision correction technology available today including Intralase and CustomVue LASIK, Multifocal and Toric Lens implants. Dr. Stephens performs LASIK at the Laser Vision Center of Edina. He also performs surgery in hospitals and surgery centers in Burnsville, Chanhassen, Edina and Shakopee.
Dr. Stephens is board-certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
