BOTOX
BOTOX COSMETIC treatments are an exciting advance in the fight against wrinkles. BOTOX has been used by ophthalmologists, including our own Dr. Gullingsrud, to treat certain nerve disorders of the eye. Recently, Edina Eye has expanded the use of BOTOX into cosmetic treatments because of its ability to safely diminish facial expression lines.
If you have wrinkles or creases in your forehead or eyebrows, a simple BOTOX injection may work to reduce these. The procedure takes only a few minutes, requiring only a tiny amount of Botox to be injected into specific muscle areas. Effects last up to three months or longer. And subsequent injections can be safely conducted again. Studies show that with continued treatments, the effect of BOTOX may even last longer.
Is BOTOX safe?
BOTOX is a natural purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum bacterium. Very low doses of Botox are administered by a skilled physician into a localized region. It does not travel throughout the body. At Edina Eye Physicians & Surgeons, P.A., Dr. Gullingsrud, an experienced ophthalmologist and surgeon, has been administering Botox injections since 1995.

Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin from the eyelids. The excess skin may be cosmetically (makes one look old or tired) or functionally (makes it difficult to see) undesirable. If it can be proved that the skin is interfering with driving, reading or any daily activity, insurance may pay for the surgery. If not, the surgery can be performed on a self-pay basis.
