Dr. Schaefer graduated cum laude from DePauw University. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Schaefer completed his internship at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Minnesota, where he was elected Chief Resident.

Dr. Schaefer practiced at Columbia Park Medical Group in Andover and Columbia Heights from 2002-2007. Dr. Schaefer is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He is also a Surgical Instructor at the VA Medical Center.

Dr. Schaefer will see patients for general ophthalmology services as well as surgical procedures including deluxe cataract implant surgery, refractive surgery, non-cosmetic eyelid surgery and lasers for diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.

Dr. Schaefer is Board-Certified in Ophthalmology.

Dr. Schaefer sees patients at our Burnsville, Edina, New Prague and Shakopee office locations.
