As a Captain in the United States Air Force, Dr. Barer served as a Flight Surgeon and Commander and Director of Base Medical Services at the USAF Hospital Tainan, Tainan Air Base, Republic of China. He received the USAF Commendation Medal, a National Defense Service Ribbon and was distinguished as Honorary Flight Surgeon, Chinese Air Force, Republic of China. After a long and successful medical career, including being instrumental in the growth of Edina Eye’s business and reputation, Dr. Barer retired from practice in 2013.
Dr. Barer is also a Clinical Professor for the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota.
